Innovative use of exchangeable battery systems – Jungo Group presents the Jungo 3.0

From 30.05.2022 to 03.06.2022, IFAT took place in Munich for the first time in 4 years. On Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. the Jungo Group had invited to the big press event at their stand 417 in hall C5. The occasion was the world premiere of the Jungo 3.0, a fully electric multifunctional utility vehicle with an exchangeable battery system. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle not only maximises customer benefits with many new features, but also leaves the lowest CO2 footprint in the industry with its design and production over its entire life cycle – in line with the company’s motto “For a cleaner and better world”.

Even though this is the first time the Jungo Group has launched a vehicle on the market itself, it is no stranger to success. Company founder Nicolas Jungo has been setting standards in the utility vehicle market as a designer for decades. For example, with the JungoJet 3500, which appeared in 2008 and is still being built today after the rights were sold to other companies.

Production takes place at the Laage site near Rostock in an industrial park that is powered 100% by CO2-neutral energy.

According to the manufacturer, more than 50 different applications will be available for the Jungo 3.0 in the future, which can be changed within a few minutes and will also be available via a short-term rental system for less frequently used applications.

One of the many innovations is the use of an interchangeable battery system. While one set is in use, the other can be charged slowly and in a battery-saving way, also through the direct use of renewable energies such as photovoltaics or wind power without having to store them again temporarily. This avoids power peaks when all vehicles are rapidly charged during lunch breaks or at the end of a shift. Thanks to the optimised exchange trolley, the battery set can then be exchanged in a few minutes and is completely ready for re-use.

Furthermore, the changing system can be operated with one to 4 power packs (batteries). In this way, the energy carried can be adjusted between 15 and 60 kWh for the task at hand and no unnecessary weight is carried when demand is low.

Other innovations include the micro-hydraulic system, which further improves quick-change capability and is maintenance-free during the lifetime of the machine; wheel hub motors; cloud connectivity / Industry 4.0 for predictive maintenance and much more.

Last but not least, the truely great design has to be mentioned.
